A Little History
The Lamborghini Diablo SV was introduced in 1998 at the Geneva Auto Show. This particular model was based on the standard Diablo and lacked the four-wheel drive of a VT. The increase in horsepower paid with two-wheel drive made the car difficult to control during hard driving. A rear spoiler, which could be color-matched or formed from carbon fiber, was eventually installed as standard equipment.
A limited 20-car run of the Diablo’s SV was produced in 1998, and it was exclusively sold in the United States. This edition was called the “Monterey Edition.” Perhaps the most notable feature was the use of the SE30/VT Roadster style of air intakes in front of the rear wheels.

The SV was priced as the entry-level model in the Diablo range.
One Monterey Edition (which featured upgraded engine and brakes) was driven by Mario Andretti during the Lamborghini-sponsored “Running of the Bulls” event in California.
