The Customizations

This 1938 coupe is a great example of what is known as a “Street Rod.” A street rod is a hybrid of a Hot Rod and Custom car. It is an American car, typically older than 1949, that is built not only for speed, but also for its grandiose appearance. Aside from the intricate paint job, this car has had some shape modifications as well. To start, the roof was chopped and leaned the front windshield back, each by about 2 inches. Next, they lowered the hood and created custom hood cowls. This led to the front fender wells being extended to accommodate the lowered headlights.

On the inside, this car has been upgraded with modern-day comforts and technology. First, the builder changed the hinges and made suicide doors; the stock version of this car had standard doors. The entire interior has been fitted with Mercedes-Benz leather and a custom lacquered wood dash. The dash features a Dolphin gauge cluster with billet aluminum highlights. The center console is equipped with a back-up camera and a Vintage Air HVAC control system.

The taillights were actually incorporated into the rear of the car, and then painted over.

As there are no door handles, this car can only be opened by a pre-programmed FOB. However, in case of emergency, there are pull cables located in each of the hood cowls to open both doors!
