2023 Porsche 911 GT3

  • First and only Porsche painted in Audrain Green

  • Product of the Paint to Sample Plus program

  • 3.5 year lead time since project started

A Porsche 911 GT3 is always special, but very few of these cars nowadays are legitimately one of one. This car is perhaps the only car in the world with its paint named after the museum it calls home. This GT3 on display is the first and only car painted in Audrain Green (6RY) through the Porsche Paint to Sample Plus program after a 3.5-year lead time. This color is now a Paint to Sample color available to order on any new 911.

The Porsche Paint to Sample program has drastically evolved since inception as the Sunderwunsch department - AKA Special Wishes department - in 1978, when the company focused on unique body kits before special colors. Paint to Sample started to gain momentum in the late 1990’s with the 996 generation 911, offering special colors with an additional cost of $4230. The program continued through the 997 generation, and exploded with popularity during the 991 generation, with help from the social media boom.

The Paint to Sample Plus program adds another level of customization to 911 ownership. The program allows customers to develop an original color that has not been used on a Porsche before, if it is technically feasible and sustainable for real world use. The Audrain team worked with Rod Emory, craftsman and customizer known for his company’s Emory Outlaws, to develop Audrain Green. Rod provided the sample to Porsche nearly four years ago, and Porsche ran the color through several sustainability tests to ensure the color will last in real world environments. Through this long process, Porsche essentially guarantees that the paint will not fade, and that the company will be able to reproduce the paint in case of an accident or need for a repaint. The color is inspired by Lagos Green (M6W), though is also familiar to the Audrain Museum’s logo color.
