If the 707 horsepower Dodge Challenger Hellcat, or the 840 horsepower Challenger SRT Demon weren’t crazy enough for you, then this Challenger SRT Demon 170 might just be adequate for you. Boasting 1025 horsepower, the Demon 170 is the last send off for the Challenger, capping off a 15-year production run on this chassis. The other crazy aspect is this beautiful special edition paint – rightfully named Plum Crazy. With many special options and drag racing features, the Demon 170 is certainly one of the most preposterous new vehicles on the road today.

Plum Crazy is a historic Dodge color seen on the first-generation Challenger from 1970-1974. Unlike manufacturers today, Dodge offered nearly 30 available colors on the original Challenger, and many of them have become sought after colors when collectors look to acquire a Challenger today. While the color is very friendly and welcoming, the driving experience strays far from these adjectives.

Though it is road legal, the Demon 170 is a dedicated drag strip car. It comes standard with drag wheels – skinny fronts and wide rears – wrapped in Mickey Thompson semi-slicks. This car is equipped with optional carbon fiber wheels, which save 25 lbs. and reduce rotational mass, extremely helpful for accelerating and decelerating quickly.

The Demon 170 leaves the factory without its special equipment installed and is shipped first to a Dodge-certified shop to have a few parts installed. There is a carbon fiber rear seat delete, leaving room for a roll cage to be installed, which is mandatory at many drag strips. Secondly, you’ll notice a silver handle next to the center console – this is a lever to activate the parachute! The Demon 170 is the only road-legal car to offer a parachute as an option from the factory, and it's certainly useful to slow the car down as it runs under nine seconds at 151 MPH in the quarter-mile. If this isn’t one of the most thrilling and breathtaking toys to exploit during the summer months, then we aren’t sure what is.
