2024 Porsche 911 GT3 RS
Shown in Paint to Sample Ruby Star
Latest iteration of Porsche’s most track-focused road car
Very advanced suspension and aerodynamics
The latest Porsche 911 GT3RS is perhaps the most outrageous track-focused car on the road today, and this one, with its special Paint to Sample Ruby Star color, makes it look just as special as it drives. This special paint color is not a standard option, and very few cars have been painted in this color. While many experts note that the car is too advanced to fully exploit on the road, this is a quintessential “track toy” to enjoy to the fullest during the summer months.
The Porsche Paint to Sample program has grown a dedicated following of enthusiasts over the last 10-15 years. Instagram accounts such as @PTSRS have gained over 200k followers, posting pictures of newly delivered Paint to Sample models. While Porsche only offers three standard colors and three special colors on the GT3RS, there are dozens of Paint to Sample colors to choose from to make your car unique for an additional $20,960. In case those options weren’t enough, for $43,390 you can opt into the Paint to Sample Plus program, which allows the customer to develop, “individual paintwork for any technically feasible solid or metallic color based on a submitted color sample.” This allows the color range to become virtually endless.
The GT3RS has represented the most focused and hardcore Porsche 911 model for the last two decades. Over a standard 911, every aspect of the car is improved for the best performance on the track. As seen, there are many vents, scoops, slits, and of course, the massive rear wing which all improve aerodynamics. From the front of the car, air is channeled in specific directions to produce the best performance possible. For example, because of the massive radiators under the front hood (there is no storage under the hood – just radiators), the hot air exhausted from the radiators gets channeled downward across the rear of the car by the small rails on each side of the roof. This allows the rear wing to receive fresh, cooler air to maximize downforce. Numerous aerodynamic tricks like this add up to a very hardcore experience with serious limitations that the everyday driver would struggle to achieve.
While the high-strung flat-six has always been a backbone of the GT3RS – and it definitely is a major aspect of this model with 520 horsepower and a 9000 RPM redline – the suspension customizability is a major advancement in the latest GT3RS. There are four circular dials on the steering wheel, allowing the driver to adjust shock compression and rebound, differential lock, sport or track driving modes, and traction control. While track enthusiasts need to crawl underneath their cars in the pits to normally adjust their suspension settings, Porsche is the first to introduce all of these to the cabin.
