Dubbed by Formula I engineers and designers as the greatest FI car of all time, the MP4/4 is arguably the most dominant Formula One Car in the history of the sport. In 1988 the MP4/4 won 15 of 16 Races and still holds the record for the percentage of laps led in a season at 97.3 %.
After their engines were relatively unsuccessful in the 1960s Honda returned to making formula engines. In 1985 their engines were rapidly recognized as superior to anything else in the field. They were the motor for six straight Constructors Championships from 1986 to 1991 winning two with Williams in 1986 and ‘87 and four more with McLaren, beginning in 1988 with the MP4/4.
