A Little History

It is widely believed that W. Lee Crouch built just three cars in his machine shop in New Brighton, Pennsylvania. The last two were steamers, and this particular vehicle is both the only survivor and the only one built by the Crouch Automobile Manufacturing & Transportation Company in Baltimore. Experts also believed that all of Crouch’s previous creations were taken apart and used to assemble this car, which uses a twin-cylinder steam engine that puts out eight horsepower

The Crouch Steam Runabout features tiller steering and is a functioning, pre-1900’s steam car. It was discovered in the basement of the original Baltimore Crouch factory during WWII and sold to scrappers, who chose to save this incredible historical car.
