Newport - the Birthplace of American Racing

Join world renowned restorer, historian and enthusiast Evan Ide as he chats with Donald Osborne about the little-known story of racing in Rhode Island and Newport at the beginning of the 20th century.

In the gallery you will see some of the machines that made history as they and their intrepid owners helped to create motor racing in America at the dawn of the automobile. Rolling symbols of speed, endurance and daring, vibrant survivors of over 120 years of redefining the emerging motor vehicle.

If you think high performance and record speeds are a modern development, you will be surprised and amazed to discover what the world of avid motorist and racer Willie K. Vanderbilt and friends meant to automotive competition and development.

The Audrain Concours and Motor Week draws to a conclusion on Sunday October 6th, 2024! Witness over 150 cars from various decades across various classes all competing for the coveted Best of Show trophy. General admission allows guests access on the field from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, concession stands will be available for food and drink. VIP admission gives access starting at 6:30 am with Coffee at the Concours and continues throughout the day with access to the VIP tent with food and drink served all day.

Sponsored by Parker Construction at the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Bellevue Avenue, the Village is the “hub” for the Audrain Concours & Motor Week and is free and open to the public.

This year we are honored to welcome Rod Emory and his team as they celebrate their history of car renovation and customization. Head to the center court to view hot rods from the early days all the way up to current custom Porsche “Outlaws.”

Check out our custom merchandise display at the Horseshoe Lounge where you can purchase any of our commemorative gear, or order a specialty cocktail or light bite from our Concours menu.  Additional concessions will be available on the walkway around center court, where you can grab a Wally’s hot dog or Cluck House sandwich or burger.

The auction firm Bonhams has its roster of cars on display for the auction which takes place on Friday at 4:00 pm in the Von Auersperg building.  Adjacent to the Bonhams display, the Casino Theater serves as the setting for all Audrain Concours & Motor Week Seminars.

On Saturday, a vintage fire truck display with complimentary popcorn and cotton candy will be available to delight kids of all ages.  Later that evening, we will crown a Prom King and Queen at our 80s Prom-Themed Audrain Museum Gala.

Kick back and relax with fellow car, beverage and cigar enthusiasts at Newport Craft.

There are two opportunities to attend this popular event. Join either Thursday October 3rd or Friday October 4th. The events are drop-in style. Stop by for Newport Craft cocktails and a cigar any time from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Thursday, and 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday. 

The Gathering is a day-long bespoke luxury event at Doris Duke’s spectacular estate, Rough Point.

This elite garden party offers the best food and beverages that Rhode Island and New England have to offer, as well as custom automobile marques, luxury lifestyle brands, new car unveilings, celebrities, and more!

Guests will enjoy complementary food and drink while soaking in Rough Point’s sprawling iconic landscape with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Rough Point is a historic house museum with an extensive collection of fine arts, experienced today largely as it was lived in during the lifetime of its most famous owner, the heiress, philanthropist, and preservationist Doris Duke.
