Since the days of the 356, Porsche has been making a limited edition soft top convertible variant of the 911 called the Speedster. This specific Speedster comes with the optional Heritage Design Package, which made it the first on the East Coast. The exterior is finished off with GT Silver metallic, and the front bumper is painted white to pay homage to the first 356 race cars. The number on the side of the car comes with 48 as standard, for when Porsche started, but can be changed to a number of owner’s choice. The carbon ceramic calipers are painted in black, with the Porsche logo written in white. The Speedster logo on the back and the limited edition logo on the interior are painted in gold. The leather interior is two tone black and tan, with the back of the carbon fiber seats painted in GT Silver metallic as well.

This 991.2 version of the Speedster is the first in the lineage to have noticeable performance upgrades over a standard Carrera convertible. The engine, chassis, and many body components are borrowed from the GT3 Touring. The Speedster sits 0.2 in taller than the Touring, because the dampers are calibrated to have slightly softer settings to make it more appropriate for road use. The naturally aspirated 4.0L engine revs all the way out to 9,000 rpm and can only be accessed through a six speed manual gearbox. The driver can press a button to activate the automatic throttle blipping on downshifts, and change the suspension settings as well. The convertible top is semi electronically controlled. The driver presses a button to open the rear decklid, but must fold the top back by hand, which allows the car to stay down on unnecessary weight. The Speedster is the ultimate driver’s drop top 911, and only 1,948 of them will be produced.
